GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND METHOD OF OPERATION
The Dorr-Oliver Eimco Rotary Drum Filter is a continuously operating filter with 28 cells. It is shown on the general arrangement drawing 82 E 53452 from the drive side and the valve side. (right hand and left hand execution, mirror inverted).

The filter vat (item 8) forms the basis of the total filter and fixed with its front walls to the foundation. The bearings, in which the filter drum (item 1) with the drum-trunnions is accommodated, are also placed on the front walls of the filter vat. The drum-trunnions are followed by the drum drive (item 11) at the drive side and the control valve (item 10) at the valve side. The drive of the agitator (item 12 is effected via the eccentric shaft and from there via the eccentric rods onto the agitator item (item 9). For discharge of the filter cake the filter is equipped with discharge roller device (items 13, 14, and 15). Furthermore, the filter is provided with a cloth wash device.
A grease lubrication pump with electric drive is installed for providing the most important lubrication points with grease.
The filtration process takes place on the drum shell, whereby the filtrate is separated from the solids by vacuum via grid plates and filter cloth.
The filter drum rotates around its horizontal axis in the filter vat filled with suspension. While the filter drum is rotating continuously, the individual filtration phases take place one by one for each cell. The control valve adjusts the correct sequence thereof.
The filter cake is built up by the existing pressure drop while the filter cell submerges into the suspension.
Thereafter the liquid (filtrate) entrained is sucked through the filter cloth by means of the vacuum and is discharged and at the same time the filter cake is dried by this air flow.
After the drum has submerges into the suspension, the same procedure is starting again.
The filter cake is taken off by a discharge roller device and thereafter discharged in the filter cake discharge screw conveyor.
