Repetitive work. Where there is considerable repetition of articles of the same description and mass
(e.g. towers, masts, ladders, frames, etc.) that are measured by mass, the number of such articles and
the mass or length, as applicable, of each will be stated in the schedule.
Basis of Mass Calculation. The mass of structural aluminium work will be calculated on the basis of the
nominal mass/unit length as stated in the manufacturer's handbook or, where not so stated, the mass will
be calculated from an aluminium density of 2 700 kg/m3.

Tolerances for rolling margins and other permissible deviations will be neglected for the purposes of
mass calculation.
No deductions will be made for holes for fasteners or for milling or planing and no additions will be

c) where each member or section necessitates a specially designed extrusion profile.
The rate shall cover the cost of preparation of shop detail drawings, supply, trial assembly (if required
in terms of the project specification), and fabricat.ion of the structure complete with all necessary
cleats, brackets, gussets, shop fasteners, base plates, and the like, and loading ready for despatch to
Site.
Delivery to Site. Separate items will be scheduled for transportation of structural work of

Separate items will be scheduled as extra-over (a) above for transportation of members that are so
abnormal in shape or size as to warrant special arrangements for their transportation in terms of the
Road Traffic Ordinance.
In both cases, the rate shall cover the cost of transportation from the shop to the Site of the Works,
including, if necessary, handling on and off transFort vehicles, if any, en route.

Erection of light, medium, and heavy sections (or groups of members) of structural aluminiumwork on Site
will be scheduled separately or so grouped that different rates may be submitted for each significantly
different scale of operation.
Separate items will be provided for installation of bolts in concrete and for expansion bolts and other
anchorages for handrailing, ladders, and the like (see 8.2.5).
The rate shall cover the cost of off-loading the structural aluminiumwork when delivered and stacking it
in a designated area and, subsequently, moving it from such area, assembling, erecting, and aligning, and
providing erection equipment, temporary supports. and safety measures.

Where there are special requirements for the non-destructive testing of welding or other elements, such
items will be measured separately in appropriate units.
The rate shall cover the cost of the provision of equipment, carrying out the test, and consequential
delays.
Bolts
a) Erection bolts ......................................................................... Unit: t
Separate items will be scheduled for each grade and type of bolt and, in the case of HD bolts, for each
diameter, size, and shape.
The rate for bolts shall cover the cost of providing, fixing, and installing bolts, washers, and nuts,
and that for HD bolts shall, in addition, cover the cost of threaded bolts shaped to the details given @n
the drawing, and complete with anchor plate(s), if any.
Separate items will be scheduled for anodizing and for any other particular types of protective coatings.
The rate shall cover the cost of supplying all plant and equipment necessary to carry out the anodizing,
and the cost of material, scaffolding (where required), preparation of surfaces as required in terms of
the project specification, and the application, and where applicable, the curing of coats of paint.
Separate items will be scheduled for each shape and type of finish required on cladding.
The rate shall cover the cost of supplying and erecting, complete with all fastenings.

where the cost of access or erection, or both, may affect the price.
The sum or rate shall cover the cost of providing the structure completely fabricated, assembled, and
